Labour Union of FTU-HCMC Campus

1. History of Formation and Development

The Labour Union of FTU-HCMC Campus was officially established under Decision No. 158/QĐ-CĐ dated February 2, 2018, issued by the President of the Labour Union of Foreign Trade University, based on the restructuring of the former Sub-union of FTU-HCMC Campus, comprising 06 affiliated sub-unions.

Pursuant to Decision No. 1367/QĐ-ĐHNT dated June 28, 2021, by the Foreign Trade University on the reorganization of academic departments at the FTU-HCMC Campus, and following the guidance of the University Labour Union on restructuring sub-unions of faculty members to align with administrative and academic units, the Labour Union of FTU-HCMC Campus carried out the procedures to reorganize the sub-unions of the Basic Studies Department and Professional Studies Department into new sub-unions: Department of Basic Sciences, Department of Economics and Law, Department of International Business and Trade, and Department of Business Administration and Finance – Accounting.

Following Resolution No. 35/NQ-CĐ dated March 29, 2019, of the Foreign Trade University Labour Union on the division, merger, and dissolution of member labour unions and sub-unions (in accordance with Resolution No. 126/NQ-ĐU dated October 18, 2017, of the Party Committee of Foreign Trade University), the Labour Union of FTU-HCMC Campus also reorganized administrative sub-unions to be consistent with personnel arrangements and the Party branches under the Party Committee of FTU-HCMC Campus, as stipulated in Decision No. 50-QĐ/ĐU dated December 30, 2021. This restructuring has facilitated the participation of union members in union activities in alignment with their administrative units.

2. Functions and Duties

The Labour Union of FTU-HCMC Campus works in close collaboration with the administration to effectively carry out its assigned responsibilities, including: teaching, scientific research, student recruitment and training, student affairs management, academic management, international cooperation, financial management, infrastructure development, as well as the implementation of social campaigns and emulation movements. The Union also focuses on enhancing the material and spiritual well-being of its members, while coordinating with other units at the Campus and mass organizations (Youth Union – Student Union) to jointly conduct the activities of the University and the University Labour Union.

3. Organizational Structure

The Executive Committee of the Labour Union of FTU-HCMC Campus for the 2025–2030 term consists of 09 members, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Cuong.
